Sierra Nevada from the A92

View of the Sierra Nevada on the road towards Guadix. The motorway road from Granada to Guadix and beyond is very picturesque. If there has been heavy snowfalls in January or February this is what it looks like.  By around May only the top of the mountain still has snow  and by August there is just one dot of white. This is not snow it is the telescope at the Sierra Nevada Observatory Most years patches of snow do exist in shaded valleys all year around.  The peak in the centre of the photo is veleta. The highest point is Mulhacen which is just behind veleta.
