This is the Fachada de Comares or facade of the Comares. It is part of the Comares Palace and serves as a gateway to the Hall of Ambassadors, where Nasrid sultans once received dignitaries and conducted affairs of state.
Adorned with intricate stucco work, Arabic inscriptions, and geometric patterns, the façade embodies the Nasrid dynasty's deep appreciation for symmetry, artistry, and spiritual harmony. The interplay of light and shadow on its textured surfaces brings its carvings to life.
The tranquil water feature, framed by intricate arches and delicate stonework, captures the essence of Islamic design—harmony, reflection, and balance.
The Façade separated the administrative and public sector from the private and familiar part of the Palace. The right door led to the family and servants quarters. The left door led to the core of the Palace.
This is only the second area you will come to on a visit to the Nasrid Palaces. When you go through the doors this is when the Alhambra starts to become very impressive.
