Water at the Alhambra

Water was used in a variety of ways at the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain. The palace’s water system was highly sophisticated, with water channels and reservoirs designed to bring water to the palace from the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains. The water was used for drinking and bathing, as well as for irrigation and decorative purposes in the gardens and fountains. It also provided a natural cooling system for the palace, with water channels running through the walls to reduce the temperature inside.
