In the background we can see part of the old city walls of Granada. This particular part was built during the Zirid period probably around the 11th century. At this time it would have been even more impressive with wooden walk ways which were regularly patrolled. The Zirid dynasty controlled a large area centred around what is modern-day Algeria from 972 to 1014 they also controlled Granada.
This street is the Vereda de Enmedio it has wonderful views of the Alhambra and Generife. Many of the houses around here are caves.
