This picture taken from a ballon flight over Granada can help you understand the topography of the Albaicin. Right in the centre of the photo is the Iglesia San Salvador which is a large church right at the top of the Albaicin. The Alhambra is over on the left top corner. The cathedral is just below the nada of Granada in the text. There is a valley between the top of the Albaicin and the Alhambra and at the bottom of this valley if the river darro. The walkway along the river is probably one of the most picturesque parts of Granada. The road you can see on the botton right is the Carretera de Murcia and there is an entrance into the top of the Albaicin via the Calle Pages. Private car traffic is restricted in the Albaicin during many hours of the day, however the C1 and C2 minibuses serve the area well.
