Granada cathedral contains 23 different chapels, beautiful paintings, sculptures and stained glass windows. The internal architecture is beautifully proportioned and there is a large amount of gold leaf, and wood carvings. It has 2 big organs with 4000 pipes. The construction started in 1523 and finished in 1704 which is 181 years in total. Even if you are not a Christian, this magnificent building is worth a visit. It is the 4th largest Cathedral in the world. The cathedral is right next to the Royal Chapel where Isabel and Ferdinand are buried. They were the Spanish monarch who were in power when Granada was taken from the moors in 1492. Opening times Cathedral of Granada Monday – Saturday From 10:00 to 18:30 Sunday and Bank holidays From 15:00 to 18:00.
