Technology that allows people to be lazy will always dominate technology the requires effort for the same outcome.
Don't knock on grade school so easily. It does serve a purpose. I did above average (but not amazingly) with SAT/ACT test scores and my GPA. But I wasn't interested in academia for academia's sake or because I thought it was an intellectual challenge (it bored me to death, too). What I did realize sometime in grade school is that they were just trying to mold me into a a productive member in society. The emphasis on being prompt, responsible, and polite... they're simple concepts, but so many kids struggle with these things regardless of intelligence. These "HR people" aren't necessarily looking at your GPA because they want to see how smart you are. They want to see if you are consistent and responsible. Waking up at 5 or 6 in the morning for the four year grind of high school is a testament of reliability, and while it may not be the most important factor in getting a job, it does hold weight.Unless you're a lone wolf type entrepreneur who just wants to start his/her own company and make your own rules, you've got to learn how to fit in. It's kind of like how Dexter's dad on "Dexter" teaches him to fit in to survive, just on a much less interesting scale. Grade school doesn't train your smarts; it trains your social skills. You have to deal with idiotic peers. You have to learn to deal with authority and respect rules even if you don't agree with them. Part of keeping a job is knowing what you're doing, but another part is simply getting along with those around you. Part of it is learning how to deal with bosses who seem like jackasses. This is true for almost any profession, not just the ones at the bottom. Stay in school, kids.

Especially IE6....
that exactly why I couldn't be a cop, I would immediately kill a degenerate like this. when the evidence is so overwhelmingly obvious, I'd shoot him in the head right there.!

On a related note, I tried to bury the Paranormal Activity ad, but it seems they disabled the bury feature. Apparently user powered content is in danger too. |
