Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's reading, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.
resting? Hill has been working and repairing and then destroying and restoring

“Admittedly, I haven't tried the Linux version of Chrome (my Linux box is headless), but I'm having a hard time imagining how it could be significantly faster than the Windows version. I can't remember any program, much less any browser, feeling as responsive as Chrome (okay, Opera and probably Firefox load pages about as quickly, but nothing can even touch Chrome on starting a new window).Either way, yay for Chrome.

Speaking as a person who used to work in the field of insurance, there seems to be a lot of people who don't have much of an idea how it works. Insurance is about covering you for an agreed risk - not every risk. The real problem appears to be that American insurers are colluding to create outrageous conditions for policy exclusions, and that the American Government is doing nothing to prevent that. Just letting companies do whatever they want to make a buck is ill advised (no matter how in love you are with the free market) - in this case the behaviour of the insurance companies is resulting in negative financial and medical outcomes for its clients, whilst there are few negative outcomes for the companies and those who run them.I am in Australia, and here the insurance industry is tightly regulated. I didn't work in a client facing role but like every other employee I had to be very careful what I said and did - because legally your statements supersede the policy wording. I didn't deal with clients but I had to get compulsory industry accreditation, just like every other employee did. Not only was there methods for clients for appealing policy judgements within the company, there is also an external industry body that pretty much ruled in favour of the client by default in all but the most indisputable cases. There was no shortage of rules and laws that we had to follow to the letter - because the financial and legal sanctions for breaking them was harsh. And you know what? WE STILL MADE A PROFIT. It is possible to hold people and businesses to reasonable account without causing an economic apocalypse - profits in the insurance industry should be based around smart actuarial decisions, not defrauding your clients simply because nobody will sanction you for that.

It does work and likely never will if the industry doesn't get their act together. HTML5 supports browsers playing video but the standard of video that HTML5 will use is highly debated. Apple and Youtube want to use H264 (which quicktime uses for example) but that is not a open source standard and would require Firefox to pay licensing fees to build support into the browser to decode the video. Firefox doesn't want to do that and so they want HTML5 to be based on Ogg V. which would be free. Hence... war, and no set standard. Go to any HTML5 site with Ogg V. files and it works beautiful. Safari, no joy. If it is H264 files the reverse is true. |
