| TheFuzz, I agree 100%, and let me explain why this is happening. As you can see my comment just a few below, I've now seen 5 stories on Digg that were of a Redditor's Halloween costume. The thing is, is that on Reddit, I can submit my picture of my sad attempt at being Wolverine for Halloween, and have a very good possibility of it making it to the front page (or a sub reddit front page). Just as all these did we're seeing lately. With Digg, though, because I'm not a power user, my story has absolutely no chance of getting promoted. Sure, I can do what they do and email/IM/twitter/facebook my submission to 500 people, but still, that's just lame. This is why we see all of Reddit's community's creativeness, and not our own here at Digg. I too love both DIgg and Reddit, hell I've been here on Digg probably longer than anyone in this thread, it's just sad to see that only a few top people are able to have stories promoted. As if you go to the upcoming queue, theres thousands of stories every few minutes, and impossible to vote on just some "regular dudes" submission cause it will easily be lost in the frenzy of upcoming stories. Actually, I think this can be somewhat corrected if Digg had a good spam filter. |
