My ex-brother-in-law has a medical book that was owned by one of his ancestors from a few generations back (late 19th century-early 20th) that had some interesting reading. One section detailed diagnosis by examining the patients urine, by comparing its color to a chart. Also included in that chapter was diagnostic clues given by the smell and taste of that sample. I guess doctors in that era didn't sent the samples out to the lab.And although I have excellent health insurance I was informed last week that the pain medication I need isn't covered. So I am stuck taking massive amounts of "extra-strength" Vicodin, which it seems has little effect at all.
